While renewable energy, particularly solar and wind, may have some potential to mitigate carbon emissions, this is not seen as a viable large-scale alternative for commercial shipping. Engine concepts include gas-only engines; dual fuel 4-stroke; and 2-stoke. LNG engines currently being produced cover a broad range of power outputs.
