STF first converts natural gas-based synthesis gas to methanol in an isothermal reactor; the methanol is then transformed into high-octane gasoline via the intermediate methanol. The OTTO-R initiative, coordinated by the TU Freiberg, is part of the Kopernikus project P2X for the research, validation and implementation of Power-to-X concepts.

Concept of hydrogen generation, storage and release using LOHCs. Hydrogenious Technologies is a spin-off from the University of Erlangen- Nuremberg (Germany), which also holds a stake in the company, and the Bavarian Hydrogen Center. The hydrogen can be released and converted back into electricity in a fuel cell when required.

The Oyster concept for transforming wave power to onshore electricity. In contrast to many other wave power devices, Oyster uses hydraulic technology to transfer wave power to shore, where it is then converted into electricity. Onshore, conventional hydroelectric generators convert this high-pressure water into electrical energy.
