The companies are developing an improved axial vane type rotary engine known as the RadMax. The RadMax design was mainly developed by Radian Milparts and assigned to REGI US, Inc. The new vane actuator assembly reduces weight and friction, and the vane actuator design does not require any return springs. in December 2005.

Other features of the X2 include: Quiet operation: engine lacks poppet valves and over-expansion minimizes exhaust noise. Low heat signature from over-expansion and cycle skipping eliminates water cooling. Internal cooling with air or water (Rankine). Power modulation by cycle skipping increases efficiency and recaptures heat.
