CompactGTL will build a commercially deployed small-scale gas-to-liquids (GTL) plant in Kazakhstan. The proposed plant is expected to bring with it significant future commercial and environmental benefits, according to the company. CompactGTL expects to have a fully functioning small-scale GTL plant in operation in 2017.

Although the recovery in the world economy since 2009 has been uneven, and future economic prospects remain uncertain, global primary energy demand rebounded by a remarkable 5% in 2010, pushing CO 2 emissions to a new high. The largest increase in oil production comes from Iraq, followed by Saudi Arabia, Brazil, Kazakhstan and Canada.
