Ballard Power Systems announced a purchase order from Van Hool, a leading bus OEM and Ballard partner headquartered in Belgium, for 20 FCveloCity-HD 85kW fuel cell modules to power buses in Groningen, the Netherlands, under the JIVE2 funding program. Ballard plans to deliver the 20 FCveloCity-HD 85kW modules in 2020.

In terms of maintenance, operating life, fuel consumption, weight and installation space, the EEV solution adopted for Mercedes-Benz trucks is at the same level as with the well-proven BlueTec 5 technology.

In the Netherlands TNT is still piloting EVs. Customer density determines the commercial use of EVs Bjorn continues: For long distance hauling the action radius and the capacity of EVs is too small. With very few moving parts, there is little that can break, so maintenance is infrequent and cheap. But they havent yet.
