Natural gas also plays a growing role in the transport sector, its share rising from 3% to 4%. The use of natural gas grows most in road transport, where its share rises from 1% to 3%. Currently the dominant use of gas in the transport sector is in gas compression for pipeline transport and distribution. —WEO 2011.
