There are 15 MY 2013 pickup and minivan/van models for which at least one variant of the model has a combined city/highway label fuel economy rating of 20 mpg (11.8 mpg, or 22%.

The Trends report has been published annually since 1975 and covers all passenger cars, sport utility vehicles, minivans, and all but the largest pickup trucks and vans. In MY 2013, Mazda had the lowest fleet-wide adjusted composite CO 2 emissions and highest adjusted fuel economy performance, followed by Honda and Subaru.

Mazda Ford Partner was reported to be developing Series PHEV based on Mazda 5 MPV platform. The resulting fuel efficiency improvements mean lower CO2 emissions and less fossil fuel consumption and, therefore, less pollution. Continues promotion and development of hydrogen as long-term strategy. No announced plans.
