Since then, we’ve seen a number of EVs and plugin hybrids that use a transmission, and the advantages that were mathematically predictable (as well as known from the DIY EV scene that predated mass EV production) became a reality. Still totally cool to see automakers can agree about stuff (much better than computer makers, indeed), but I always find it weird when people say electrical cars are clean.

That means either 3x more coal burning for that electricity, or 3x more of our limited supply of clean renewable energy diverted to transportation, leaving less renewable energy to displace fossil fuel usage elsewhere. The combined electrical storage efficiency of charger and batteries is 85%. It takes 3x more electricity going the H2 route!
