Having been boosted by scrappage scheme sales in Europe, Japanese manufacturer Suzuki wants to see a similar scheme implemented in Australia. The European standard of 130g/km of CO2 has been outlined as the standard bearer for green cars.

According to a Suzuki Alto Press release green cars don’t have to be boring - talk about preaching to the converted. Anyway, the manufacturer was keen to boast about its success at this year’s Revolve Eco-Rally which took place from Brighton to London yesterday.

EU regulation is striving to cut the CO2 emitted by cars to an average figure of 130 g/km by 2015. Director at the ETA, Andrew Davis, said: “Car makers can build green cars, but they need us to buy them. Car makers – Ranking by average CO2 in 2008. Manufacturer/ranking 2007/ Average CO2 in 2008(g/km).
