The primary objective of conventional hydrotreating is to remove impurities present in petroleum feedstocks, such as sulfur and nitrogen, via the addition of hydrogen. There are two drivers to the cost of production: the feedstock cost and the yield of product. Lowering hydrogen costs would thus lower production costs.
