After an hour or so of breakfast and conversation, we unplugged our respective vehicles and went off to our appointments in the Capitol. In a Prius or Civic Hybrid at 50mpg, the trip would have cost about $30 in gas, tolls and parking in Sacto. We chose the solar-powered Park n Ride just off 80. Choice is what we want.

But theyve needed definitive proof that PHEVs wont increase pollution. CA, NY, MA and other states have had Zero-Emission Vehicle programs since the early 1990s because battery electric vehicles in those states, taking into account power plants, are far cleaner than gasoline cars in reducing urban air pollution and smog. How much more?
