If you build a car as a "kit car" with no real factory, then yes, it will never be an economic success. they didnt consider the fact that China was a nation with a appetite that would have well made the EV1 a profitable venture even if the cars tragically lasted longer, and cost less to build and maintain. in their short sited vision.
