It was the Chevrolet Sprint ER , and I've found a nicely intact example in a car graveyard just east of Sacramento. The 1987 Sprint ER came in second place, due to its insatiable thirst for go-go juice on the highway (51 miles per gallon). After the Geo brand got the axe in 1997, the Metro became a Chevrolet.
