Saudi Aramco CEO Amin Nasser, while addressing the World Petroleum Congress in Istanbul, stated that the outlook for oil supplies is “ increasingly worrying ”, due to a loss of $1 trillion ($1,000 billion) in investments last year. Increased local demand is not only a growing problem for Saudi Arabia, but for most Persian Gulf producers.

A German company, vv-tec GmbH , is developing a compact piston-driven turbine—the Reinhardt Turbine, named after its inventor—that it says is a two-cycle (gas and steam) thermodynamic process machine that can be built with conventional components and can achieve efficiency of at least 60%. The gas process is no different than the Otto cycle.
