Porsche said it has delivered more than 1,500 Panamera E-Hybrid plug-in hybrids ( earlier post ) to customers worldwide from January to August 2014. The plug-in has a $96,100 starting MSRP in the US. Panamera S E-Hybrid PHEV on the road. During an international press event in Germany, in which more than 42 test drives were conducted with journalists in the Panamera S E-Hybrid ( earlier post ) covering a total distance of more than 1,200 kilometers (746 miles), the new plug-in hybrid model consumed 4.4 l/100 km (84 mpg US).

Volkswagen has launched its second plug-in hybrid based on a high-volume production model: the Passat GTE, available either as a sedan or Variant (wagon)—the first plug-in hybrid from Volkswagen to be sold as either. By 2022, PHEV sales are predicted to climb to almost 3.3 Volkswagen brand major plug-in hybrids.
