In a pre-response to that speech, having successfully advocated for plug-in hybrids like the forthcoming Chevy Volt, we propose that the President follow that speech up with a “realistic and conservative” roadmap to halve our oil use in 10 years. Cash for Conversions” will start by fixing many of our 100 million trucks, vans, and buses.

Interestingly enough, the Automotive Class is "into" the study of hybrids at this time. A plug and a pack can make a car a 101 MPG vehicle aided by electricity. ! Particularly to the Plug-in Hybrids Electric Vehicle (PHEV) like the Toyota Prius before them as well as converting internal combustion engines into pure Electrics!

Quicke sidenote: PHEV3A as an acronym now encompasses the Tour de AZ: "Spirit of DC" Plug-in Hybrid Electric Vehicle All Around Arizona (PHEV3A) EVducational Tour (tho it could change, depending on sponsorship to AAA Tour de AZ, or even eTour de AZ). In fact, "Cash for Clunkers" should also be expanded to "Cash for Conversions!"
