They are used for manufacturing a range of products from plastic bottles to petrol.

The highest scenario (Stretch) is in line with achieving a 42% carbon reduction target by 2020. All three scenarios also assume near decarbonization of the grid by 2030.

BEV sales in the UK have grown rapidly over the past year – with demand rising, at least in part due to petrol shortages, which dried up many motorists’ gas tanks in September. Johnson signed a bill at the end of 2020 that would ban the sale of cars that run entirely on internal combustion engines from 2030.

We note that the Sustainable Business Council’s Low Carbon Freight Pathway, reflected in the CCC’s final advice, has shown that we can be much more ambitious. We support the SBC’s Low Carbon Freight Group’s work, and encourage the development of a National Freight and Supply Chain Strategy as a matter of priority.
