Area of Interest (AOI) 3: Body-in-White Joining of Carbon Fiber Composites to Lightweight Metals (Aluminum, Advanced High Strength Steel, or Magnesium) at Prototype Scale for High-Volume Manufacturing. DOE has established 55% engine efficiency as a stretch goal for heavy duty engines with a plan to meet this goal by 2020.
