The Hong Kong government will buy 10 i-MiEV electric vehicles from Mitsubishi Motors Corp., Yau said the procurement demonstrates “the government’s commitment in promoting the use of EV in combating air pollution.” according to the environment secretary.

The Mitsubishi i-MiEV continues to take huge strides in advancing the profile of electric cars and having achieved significant success in its native Japan, it now appears destined to conquer Hong Kong. According to reports in the Nikkei , the Hong Kong government will buy 10 i-MiEV electric vehicles from the manufacturer.

In addition to a recent electric car deal with NISSAN Motors ( NSANY ), Portland General Electric, the Oregon state governor and GE have also announced a joint venture with Mitsubishi Motors ( MMTOF.PK ) to develop and sell the Miev electric car with 85 mile range by 2011. Duh, heres our $40K volt, buy it please?
