The Kia Soul was the one that got away for Australians. We bleated away like blind sheep, buying Ford EcoSports at twice the rate we did Souls in 2019, the last year it was sold in Australia. Driving the Kia Soul EV So what did we miss out on? Each to their own, but I reckon this boxy Kia’s a delight to behold.

Then there’s Kia’s EV6 , the first ground-up electric car from the Korean brand. Tesla Model 3 Rear-Wheel Drive, Kia EV6 Air, Hyundai Ioniq 5 RWD, Polestar 2 Single Motor Long Range. Being designed from the outset as EVs, the Tesla, Kia and Hyundai have their e-motors in the rear driving the back wheels.

The Model Y is not the best driving EV of 2022 (it’s still comfortably outdone by the Kia EV6 and the Tesla Model 3 is nicer to drive, too) or the most daring (I’d stick the Genesis GV60 high on that list). The Audi e-Tron GT , Kia EV6 GT and Hyundai Ioniq 5 N would be at the top of that list. Toby Hagon: Tesla Model Y.
