This year we’ve seen prestige EV prices slashed , mainly ex-demo models sitting at dealerships gathering dust rather than buyer interest. It’s not needed – speed was already building like a tsunami – so this almost turbo-like extra kick up the backside has me near laughing and shouting in equal measure.

Design proposals for the shock new model are being evaluated internally, Autocar UK understands, but no decision has been made yet on whether to go ahead with what would be Aston’s second SUV. Autocar UK has heard that a build run capped at 2,500 units is possible for the Aston 4×4, in a bid to preserve exclusivity.

Delightfully and quirkily styled, good value and with excellent passenger space, it stood out like a shining, extrovert beacon next to the sea of homogenised, vanilla small SUVs. With that horror show of a Blue Oval mini SUV trouncing the Soul’s 485 sales that year, no wonder Kia Australia pulled it after a decade of trying.
