Transportation accounts for only 27 percent of greenhouse gas emissions (GHG) in the U.S.; In states (or countries ) with a high proportion of coal-generated electricity, the miles needed to break-even climb more. Even assuming that the required EV targets were met in the U.S. Doing so would still take decades to complete.
