After spending the past year and a half converting a Porsche 914 to an electric vehicle, I decided to expand my horizons by designing an open-source electric vehicle (EV) conversion kit for a commonly used car. There are already commercially available kits with excellent, detailed instructions for how to convert a vehicle.

One of the annoying behaviors of the motor system in my AC 914 kit is that the default DMOC445 parameters causes the acceleration and braking to have oscillations. So, I took the car out into the neighborhood with the laptop hooked up and started playing around with the EEX???TorqueSlew TorqueSlew parameters listed in the DMOC445.

This Friday, June 12, I’ll be attending the EcoMotion Palm Desert AB 811 Conference specifically to cover it for this Creative Greenius blog. Previous Prius conversion kits have been limited by Toyota programming to a top speed of 34 mph in all-electric mode.
