Magna to Acquire Opel

The German government has agreed to Magna International acquiring Opel from GM. The deal was announced early Saturday morning in Berlin by Germany’s finance minister. But 2,500 jobs in Germany could be lost and a UK minister has accepted “there is excess capacity” in GM’s operations. Fiat had said it would cut 10,000 jobs.

I met with Preeti Gupta, a freelancer with the BBC. auto finance and is now even into second hand cars. He joined Ola in Nov 20, after a 45 year stint at GM. At GM, he headed the Latin American operations and was responsible for plants with a production capacity of a million vehicles per year.
