U Florida team using fungi to extract cobalt and lithium from waste batteries

A team of researchers University of South Florida is using naturally occurring fungi to drive an environmentally friendly recycling process to extract cobalt and lithium from tons of waste batteries. It is unclear how many electronic products are recycled. The team first dismantles the batteries and pulverizes the cathodes.
