Plug Power Inc. and Charlatte America, a member of the Fayat Group, the leading manufacturer of battery powered electric airport ground support equipment (GSE) throughout Europe and the United States, have delivered fuel cell-powered electric cargo tuggers for use by FedEx at the Albany International Airport.

Bot features include pedestrian-safe technology from the iBot, plus technology such as LiDAR and multiple cameras, allowing the battery-powered bot to be aware of its surroundings. FedEx plans to test the bot this summer in select markets, including Memphis, Tenn., pending final city approvals.

In April, Axion Power International Inc received an order from Norfolk Southern Corp (NS) for PbC lead-carbon batteries for use in an all-battery-powered switcher locomotive. This larger, more powerful unit will require approximately twice the number of batteries as contained in the electric yard switcher.
