Stability can impact the amount of energy per unit weight a battery can store. Some of the best solid electrolytes available today are made with rare elements like germanium, a kilogram of which costs about $500. Other co-authors are Ekin Cubuk at Google Brain, and Brian Francisco and Josh Buettner-Garret at Solid Power, Inc.
