announced at the New York International Auto Show that they are teaming up to implement the Microsoft Hohm energy management application for Ford’s electric vehicles. Ford is the first automaker to announce the planned use of Hohm, starting with the Focus Electric next year. We’re not ready to announce a vehicle solution yet.

The PHEV (Plug-in Hybrid Electric Vehicle), a subset of the electric car, combines a primary electric motor with a much smaller back-up engine fueled with a hydrocarbon/biofuel mix. (In In this paper PHEV refers solely to the long-range PHEV of 60 miles (100 km) electric-only range.)
