This SAE spec would make it so you could go to a gas station and they would have the proper voltage and plug for your car. but its never even been close to the amount of garbage that gas power vehicles produce. Previous Engadget goes legs-on with Hondas walking-assist devices (with video!) excluding coal power in china.

The whole operation could take less than five minutes, pretty much the same amount of time many people spend filling their gas tanks at stations today. Most charge points available today take much longer to re-energize batteries than it does to fill a gas-powered cars tank.
