Toyota’s Prius was the top-selling car in Japan in June for the second month in a row, with sales of 22,292 units—3.58 times June 2008 results of 6,231 units— according to data from the Japan Automobile Dealers Association (JADA). In April, the Honda Insight had been the top-seller—the first hybrid to be such—with 10,481 units.

Success doesn’t come much more resounding than this – one out of every 10 new cars sold in Japan during November was a Toyota Prius. The vehicle maintained its top spot in Japan new passenger car sales for the seventh month in a row, posting 26,815 units according to data from the Japan Automobile Dealers Association.

Once again, the Toyota Prius has found itself at the top of the charts – in September it posted 31,758 units, representing an increase of 341 per cent compared to the same month in the previous year. In fact, the Toyota Prius now accounts for 10.8 per cent of the country’s total car sales for the month.
