Mitsubishi Motors and the Thai Government to start joint study for fleet testing of i-MiEV; MMC adding third plant in Thailand for global small car production

Mitsubishi Motors Corporation (MMC) and the government of Thailand agreed to start joint study for fleet testing of electric vehicles (EV). MMC, through its local producer and distributor Mitsubishi Motors Thailand (MMTh), will begin initiatives for future market introduction of the i-MiEV.

The Corporate Average Fuel Economy (CAFE) standards require that vehicles offered for sale in the US attain an average fuel economy of 40.3 In addition, deploying turbocharged, downsized engines—which are expected to replace many current engines—may cost more and produce less fuel savings than the agencies’ analysis indicates.
