If you build a car as a "kit car" with no real factory, then yes, it will never be an economic success. To get the most mileage, one could not have the radio, the A/C, or the headlights on. Think of driving any vehicle in the hot Los Angeles summer time. The EV1s failure was a failure of Management. Never again.
