They will buy a car and rent or lease the battery and the cost of leasing the battery will be the same as, or less than, the cost theyre paying today for petrol. This is unusual. People wont buy a full car.

If no one wants your car (because people think it sucks), then no one will buy it, regardless of how good the fuel economy may or may not be. Generating electricity from wind and geothermal rather than a CO2 producing sources would help alleviate that problem. GM is making strides increasing their cars fuel economy.
