PNNL Develops Plug-in Vehicle Smart Charger Controller for Managing Peak Demands in Grid

Researchers at the Department of Energy’s Pacific Northwest National Laboratory (PNNL) have developed a Smart Charger Controller for plug-in vehicles that will automatically recharge vehicles during times of least cost to the consumer and lower demand for power. The Smart Charger Controller is designed to provide that management.

Flexibility: the high-voltage battery can be recharged from conventional domestic power sockets, the BMW i Wallbox or at public charging stations. In Comfort mode, the high-voltage battery is automatically recharged by the high-voltage generator to a charge up of around 15%. Earlier post. l/100 km/26.7-28.3
