The BMW eDrive technology initially developed for BMW i cars offers an extraordinary degree of freedom that allows it to be used across a broad range of vehicle concepts and segments. Once the speed exceeds approximately 80 km/h (50 mph) or under strong acceleration, the engine cuts in automatically.
