During a driving event at the Miramas proving grounds in southern France, BMW presented future drive technologies, including the prototype of a BMW 2 Series Active Tourer with plug-in hybrid drive. Once the speed exceeds approximately 80 km/h (50 mph) or under strong acceleration, the engine cuts in automatically.
