Ethiopia spent nearly $6 billion to import fossil fuels last year — with more than half of that spending going to fuel vehicles. In response, Ethiopia’s Transport and Logistics Ministries have announced that automobiles cannot enter Ethiopia, unless they are electric. (!) Ethiopia, however, isn’t waiting for 2035.

The drop left at least one passenger in critical condition; 11 other people were also transported to hospitals in Auckland after the plane landed there. In 2018 and 2019, two 737 Max 8 planes crashed in Indonesia and Ethiopia, killing nearly 350 people. All told, dozens of passengers suffered injuries, most of them minor.
