The reduction in weight was achieved with a lightweight construction concept using steel components. Highly expensive materials like aluminium, magnesium or even carbon-fiber are therefore excluded in the Golf’s segment. Instead of a handbrake lever, there is a main control switch plus an Auto Hold switch on the center console.
