GM described its approach at the Washington Auto Show. Here in San Francisco, we are acting now to make sure the charging infrastructure will be available to support these vehicles as soon as they are ready for sale, and we are working with other cities in the region to make the Bay Area a thriving market for electric transportation.

The plans, updated in the context of a worsening sales outlook for the entire auto industry, outline a need for up to an additional $16.6 GM has offered Saab for sale, and is requesting Swedish government support prior to any sale. GM will have a total of 36 nameplates in 2012, down 25% from 2008 levels.

Three years ago, the magazine Popular Mechanics even wrote an article prodding the auto industry for not building the 100 m.p.g. Now, of course, Bright Automotive is ready to unveil the IDEA, with the expectation it will have 50,000 ready for sale in 2013. Later, he went on to work at auto supplier Delphi Corp.

The Palo Alto facility will assemble electric vehicle battery packs, electric motors, and related electric vehicle control equipment, both for Tesla’s own electric vehicles and for sale to other automobile manufacturers. The Department has also signed conditional commitments with Nissan North America, Inc. and Fisker Automotive.
