As I read in the San Jose Mercury News about California's flex-fuel fleet fiasco. The state policy of purchasing flex-fuel cars has actually increased petroleum consumption, greenhouse gas emissions and smog in California. It's cheap to make a car flex-fuel. And probably for NRDC's pocketbook, too.

The Oregon Legislature is contemplating bills that provide credits for both manufacturers and purchasers of electric cars. The idea is to electric vehicles more competitive with conventional, gas-powered vehicles, so that a purchaser can consider paying roughly the same amount for either.
