BMW is adding two plug-in hybrid (PHEV) variants to the new BMW 7 Series range, including the first BMW M model in the range. The electric motor fitted in the two models features the latest generation of BMW eDrive technology for plug-in hybrid models. The new BMW M760e xDrive and the new BMW 740d xDrive.

Prototype Saturn Vue PHEV plugging in to a Coulomb Chargepoint ( earlier post ) in San Jose, CA. In a post on GM’s FastLane blog, Vice Chairman Tom Stephens said that the company will apply plug-in hybrid technology to one of the four core brands remaining after the restructuring: Chevrolet, Cadillac, Buick and GMC.

The Saturn version of the two-mode plug-in hybrid at the Milford Proving Grounds. GM had been announcing they were planning on launching 25 vehicles over the next 24 months but with the cancellation of the Buick compact crossover (and its plug-in hybrid variant, earlier post ) that number may drop to 24 vehicles. by Bill Cooke.
