At these prices, people are buying the "environmental feature" -- they want to be among the first owners of the worlds cleanest extended-range vehicles. PHEVs with "Good Enough to Get Started" batteries.

GM has announced plans for public sales in 2010, and almost every carmaker now says it will sell PHEVs or highway-speed battery electric vehicles (BEVs) sometime after 2010. Ford Escape PHEV-40 around 2012. Batteries not ready. First Escape PHEV delivered to SCE Nov 2007; 20 in 2008-2009. Establishing dealer network.
