Methanol can be produced from a range of renewable sources and fossil-fuel based feed-stocks; in practice methanol is mainly produced in coal-rich China from coal. Their results showed that in comparison with gasoline mode, CO emitted in methanol mode decreased 11.2%. There were no evident changes of THC and NO x emissions.
