In subsequent years, the Far North Fiber project will lay down a cable through the Northwest Passage, connecting Iceland to Greenland, then Canada, Alaska, and finally Japan. As a bonus, the tech onboard the balloons runs on solar power. This stretch, called Iris, will link Iceland to Ireland.
