Nissan may build the Fisker Alaska electric pickup truck , as well as a derivative sold under its own brand name, Reuters reported Friday. The report, based on anonymous sources familiar with the matter, claims Nissan is in “advanced talks” to invest in Fisker, with a deal possibly closing later this month.

Nissan has engaged in crisis talks with EV-maker Fisker that could see the Japanese brand gain access to the failing Californian brand’s Alaska all-electric ute. As a return, Fisker will allow Nissan to build its own ute based on the incoming Alaska pick-up scheduled for 2026. 2026 Fisker Alaska.

Fisker in a statement said it has sought Chapter 11 bankruptcy protection with a court in Delaware, and that it is currently in talks with creditors over debtor-in-possession financing and the sale of remaining assets. The move comes roughly a year after the start of deliveries of the Ocean, Fisker’s debut model.

The local importer has confirmed the BYD ute will be tested in Australia in late 2023 and 2024 ahead of an on-sale later in 2024. On-sale in the USA from late 2021, the Hummer lobs with super-expensive launch pricing and immense capability courtesy of a 745kW tri-motor powertrain. No details have been revealed about the Alaska as yet.
