Nissan may build the Fisker Alaska electric pickup truck , as well as a derivative sold under its own brand name, Reuters reported Friday. The report, based on anonymous sources familiar with the matter, claims Nissan is in “advanced talks” to invest in Fisker, with a deal possibly closing later this month.

Nissan has engaged in crisis talks with EV-maker Fisker that could see the Japanese brand gain access to the failing Californian brand’s Alaska all-electric ute. As a return, Fisker will allow Nissan to build its own ute based on the incoming Alaska pick-up scheduled for 2026. 2026 Fisker Alaska.

Fisker in a statement said it has sought Chapter 11 bankruptcy protection with a court in Delaware, and that it is currently in talks with creditors over debtor-in-possession financing and the sale of remaining assets. The move comes roughly a year after the start of deliveries of the Ocean, Fisker’s debut model.

GM confirmed Friday a huge price cut for the 2024 Chevrolet Blazer EV , as it resumed deliveries on the model. With the price cut, the Blazer EV will cost $50,195, or just $42,695 to households who can take advantage of the $7,500 tax credit. That lowers the Prologue’s effective base price to $41,295 including destination.

That vehicle is the Fisker Ocean SUV, which is due in 2023 (the company has been pushing hard with pre-orders for years). No details have been revealed about the Alaska as yet.
