Seeking to slash CO 2 emissions from its North American manufacturing operations, Honda has entered into long-term virtual power purchase agreements (VPPAs) for renewable wind and solar power that will cover more than 60% of the electricity that Honda uses in North America.

Honda last week announced key targets for sales of electrified vehicles in North America, with a plan to make battery-electric and fuel cell electric vehicles (BEVs and FCEVs) to represent 100% of its vehicle sales by 2040, progressing from sales of 40% by 2030 and 80% by 2035. At a press event in Tokyo to lay out his future vision and direction for the company, Honda Motor President & CEO Takahiro Hachigo said that the company will strive to make two-thirds of its overall unit sales from plug-in hybrid/hybrid vehicles and zero-emissions vehicles such as fuel cell vehicles and battery EVs by around 2030.

The $4,000 discount applies to both 2024 Chevy Blazer EV leases and purchases and according to CarsDirect, it can be stacked with other deals, such as the $7,500 tax credit and the $1,000 Costco member-only incentive. CarsDirect notes that the Honda Fit EV qualifies, but the Hyundai IONIQ Electric doesn’t.

On the other hand, the Honda Civic costs its owners, on average, about $350 a month. Hybrids and EVs can cost you less.
