The Co-Optima researchers are working to discover: What fuel properties maximize engine performance? What fuel and engine combinations are sustainable, affordable, and scalable? There are multiple possible Thrust 2 paths forward: Thrust 2 fuel the same as Thrust 1; a Thrust 2-specific fuel; or an advanced diesel-specific fuel.
