Toyota FCV Mirai launches in LA; initial TFCS specs; $57,500 or $499 lease; leaning on Prius analogy

Toyota is using a NiMH battery in the Mirai. In 2016, Air Liquide, in collaboration with Toyota, is targeting construction of 12 stations in five states – New York, New Jersey, Massachusetts, Connecticut, and Rhode Island. Fuel is very affordable and there is no market or awareness for this new technology, a gas electric hybrid.

Toyota’s goal was to reduce the cost, weight and volume of the pack from the NiMH system used earlier. A key goal for development of the Prius Plug-in was to deliver the optimal balance of performance, range, economy, packaging and affordable price. Changes include: Completely new battery design.
