Industry analysts expect that uptick in adoption to continue. The price of that electric boost is weight.

Now Lutz envisions selling hundreds of thousands of Volts a year, probably priced below $30,000. The target is to come in at the price of a midmarket car. This is unusual.

But it is a price that must be paid, and GM should be commended for remaining committed to the Volt. They leased a few (at a loss) to those that could afford it. Not really sure where all the money is going, but it seems like the Volt is already over-priced and under performing. The Obama Administration doesnt understand that.
